Interventional Cardiologist
I am a cardiologist who suffered from lower back pain for 12 years from herniated L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs. The pain started in medical school and it continued throughout my cardiology fellowship training. It got worse when I started doing cardiac catheterizations and I eventually wasn’t able to put lead on and perform my caths. I had two discectomies for the L4-L5 disc that ruptured twice within only 1 month of time. Six weeks after my second discectomy, I went to Germany and had my third and last surgery with Dr. Bertagnoli. I had ADR surgery at L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels. I got off all narcotics six weeks after surgery, and I was able to go back to work after two months. I used only Motrin for occasional flare-ups. I am now one year out of surgery and I am pain free. I am back doing cardiac caths with no flare ups. I can stand and sit for as long as I want with no pain at all. I am happy that I had my surgery done by Dr. Bertagnoli, and if I had known about him before, I would have had the surgery earlier saving myself years from back pain. I am now referring my friends and family members to him. Many thanks to Dr. Bertagnoli and his wonderful staff including Dr. Mayer, Dr. Sramek, Dr. Nicki, and Tim Vicknair.
