4 Level ADR Testimonial
I can't believe that it has been almost two years since I had my surgery. I have tried and tried to write this letter but for some reason could never quite do it. Finally it dawned on me...how do you put into words the gratitude that I feel for someone that gave me back my life? Words simply can not do justice. With that I will try my best to tell my story.
I grew up with terrible headaches. In grade school I went through a bottle of aspirin a month just to ward off the pain. We lived in a two story house and I would hide in my bedroom, in the dark and begged that if anyone needed to come upstairs to tiptoe as any noise was unbearable. The headaches followed me into high school and later into my adult life. I found a chiropractor around 1980 that gave me great relief. Over the next 30 plus years I went to several chiropractors, tried massage therapy, active release technique, rolfing, acupuncture, exercise, and prolo therapy. I went to several surgeons in the states where they told me to take more drugs or it was time to fuse my neck and get ready for a wheel chair. Since I am a scuba diver and we live on our boat most of the year this really wasn't an option for me. I was not ready to die.
As luck would have it I met a woman in Puerto Rico that was going to have disc replacement in Germany and so started a new research for me. This is what led me to Dr. B and Pro Spine. I researched for almost two years and when my chiropractor said that either I set and appointment with Pro Spine or she was going to take me to have my neck fused. The time had come. I was in so much pain by now that I really didn't have much of a life. We set my appointment with Pro Spine. After almost two years of research I felt that this was my only real chance at life as I would like it to be. I had a screaming migraine on the way to Germany that no amount of pain pills could touch. We were scheduled to stay at Pension Schreiber for the first night and to check into the hospital. We actually got to check in a day early so that gave us a day to explore the area. It was a beautiful day. The next day I had to be at the hospital for tests and to meet everyone. It was amazing!! Everyone was so friendly and professional. The next day was surgery. I had complete confidence in Dr. B, the team at Pro Spine, Dr Masyk, Klinik Bogen, all of the wonderful nurses, and the attending surgeons. Dr. B was able to do a four level disc replacement from c2-3, 3-4, 4-5,5-6. I went into surgery with a screaming migraine and came out without one. It has now been almost two years and I have been migraine free!! Within days my husband and I were out exploring the old cathedrals and neighboring towns.
I can not say enough about the care that I received. It is hard to remember this time as major surgery since it was also a fabulous vacation! Like we have said before ...where in the world can you go to have major surgery, see amazing sites, have a wonderful time and gain 10 pounds? The bakeries were amazing! The people in Bogen are some of the friendliest people we have ever met. It truly was an experience of a lifetime and I am so very grateful to everyone involved. We are currently on our boat in Belize after sailing 1400 miles from the Dominican Republic. We stopped in Ile A Vache which is a small island that is part of Haiti. We then spent 5 days and 5 hours sailing to Guanaja in the Bay islands of Honduras where we spent a week catching up on some much needed sleep. Or finale leg was from Roatan to Placencia Belize. We will spilt our time between here and Washington State for the next few years unless we get the bug to go again. How nice to have that option now! I never could have made this trip if it wasn't for Dr. B and everyone else involved. Words will never be able to convey my gratitude to all and that includes the town of Bogen and Pension Schreiber. The philosophy of the hospital and Pro Spine is that you have to be happy to heal and they do everything possible to make you happy. Sometimes we laughed so hard that we cried!
If anyone would like to talk to me please feel free to email me and I will respond. We have Skype on our boat so calling is not a problem at all. I would love to share with you. My email address is:
My only regret is that it took me so long to write this. To Dr. B, everyone at Pro Spine, Bogen Hospital, all of the nurses, attending surgeons, attendants in the recovery room, Dr. Masyk, Dr. George, Pension Schreiber and the town of Bogen I say thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me back my life. I am forever grateful and am looking forward to the day when we can come back to Bogen to visit. If I could have planned the perfect surgery I never in a million years would have been able to come up with how perfect everything was.
If anyone has any questions please email me and I will get back to you.
Once again thank you for everything.
